An initiative was put forward to create a Strategic Advisory Council "Turkmenistan-UN"

In order to bring the national programs and international undertakings of Turkmenistan in line with the requirements of the time, to establish a systemic partnership within the framework of projects implemented jointly with the UN and its specialized structures, it is proposed to create a Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan - United Nations”.

A report on the implementation of this initiative was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov at a Government meeting held on Thursday.

The activities of this Council will be focused on solving such tasks as coordinating steps for the preparation, selection and approval of projects jointly with specialized UN agencies and developing proposals in this regard for the Government of Turkmenistan. It is also planned to study international initiatives put forward in the format of the Community of Nations and, based on feasibility, to prepare proposals for the Turkmen side to join them and support them.

At the same time, it is proposed to monitor the implementation of tasks arising from the Program “Revival of a new era of a powerful state: National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052” and the adopted national action plans, as well as discuss ways of their practical implementation.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after listening to the report, emphasized that the development of cooperation with the United Nations is one of the key directions of the foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan. Noting the need for active participation in the activities of the Strategic Advisory Council "Turkmenistan-United Nations", the head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out proper work in this direction, TDH reports.
