On the Day of Knowledge and Students, in honor of the beginning of the new academic year, UNICEF in Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the country's Ministry of Education, opened a new robotics club at secondary school No. 1 in Arkadag.

The club is designed to inspire students to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on learning and to become a role model for other schools. The club is fully equipped to accommodate 8-12 students at a time.

Alexandru Nartea, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Turkmenistan, noted:

“The launch of the Robotics Club marks an important step in equipping young minds with the skills they will need for the future. By introducing students to STEAM education, we are helping to shape a generation that is innovative, confident and ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow”.

The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan recognizes the growing importance of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education model and is actively promoting the establishment of robotics clubs in schools across the country thanks to the enthusiasm of students, parents and teachers.

STEAM education is a focus for UNICEF in the Europe and Central Asia region. UNICEF is ready to support the Ministry of Education in developing a culture of innovation and learning through the launch of this robotics club and in promoting STEAM education, which builds self-discipline and teamwork, as well as improves time management, language skills and self-esteem, according to a UNICEF press release.
