Japan invites Turkmenistan to develop the Trans-Caspian transport corridor

13.03.2024

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) offers Turkmenistan partnership in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.

Earlier, the director of the Department of East and Central Asia and the Caucasus of JICA, Kenji Ogasahara, visited the country. In particular, the Japanese delegation discussed with the leadership of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan issues regarding customs procedures carried out in the international seaport of Turkmenbashi.

As Daryo reports, interested countries, including the EU, plan to transform the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor into an ultra-modern, multimodal and efficient route connecting Europe and Central Asia over more than 10 thousand km within 15 days.

The modern Caspian port of Turkmenbashi, which expanded access to European countries and markets in the Near and Middle East, began operating in 2018.
