The UN General Assembly declared 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust”

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by Turkmenistan, which declares 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust.” This document was co-authored by 86 states. As Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Aksoltan Atayeva said, the document reflects the fundamental goals and principles of the UN Charter, primarily the obligations to resolve disputes by peaceful means and methods. The resolution also provides a mechanism for attracting voluntary contributions to the Trust Fund for the International Year, with organizational matters entrusted to UNESCO and the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. This initiative aims to support and encourage the international community's efforts to promote peace and trust, and to raise awareness of the importance of peaceful coexistence and constructive conflict resolution. The adoption of this resolution emphasizes the desire of the international community to establish and maintain peace and stability in the world, and also calls for collective cooperation in achieving this goal.
